Acting Social Security Commissioner, Carolyn Colvin, recently announced that Social Security will stop collecting on Social Security overpayments that are more than ten years old by seizing state and federal tax refunds.

Ms. Colvin further announced that anyone who received Social Security disability benefits or supplemental security income ("SSI") who believes they have been incorrectly assessed with an overpayment should contact their local Social Security office to seek options and resolve the overpayment.
